Weekly Best Advice I've Gotten
...from other moms.
August 29, 2008
So there are so many moms out there with really great ideas. Here I feature the ones that have gotten my attention this week.- Elizabeth from Moms Cook had some adorable and easy LunchBox ideas in her blog on brown bag lunches. I am definatly going to use her idea of crazy 8's.
- Tanya at Mommy Goggles reviews all sorts of great stuff for moms and their families. I went to her site this week and she was reviewing a great calendar to use on the frig or the wall. I was looking all over for one big enough to meet my family’s needs, this looks like the one.
- The Moms at Mama Manifesto use a pizza cutter for much more than pizza.
- Monster Mouths from unknown mom—thanks for the cute idea
- 1 small to med apple, sliced into wedges
- 4 white mini marshmallows, sliced in half
- peanut butter
2. On skin side of apple, place white marshmallows onto peanut butter to form teeth. Your done !!! The kids will love these when they can pretend that they are their mouths. (lol) They are a healthy snack easy to make and fun to eat. - The Moms and MomGenerations found the greatest gadget to help boost a dining chair up, rather than adding a booster seat. Very cool.
- A friend of mine in Melbourne, Australia, Coke, says at her children’s school all the students have what is called a “Fruit Break” between first and second period. When the teacher is transitioning from one lesson plan to another, the children are to eat a piece of fruit. Not fruit snacks or fruit leather or fruit gums, real fruit. Then all the kids put their peels and cores in the food waste bin for composting. I am suggesting this one to our principle.
- The next great idea I read about, that I totally want to do at our school is the Lunchtime Schedule Switch. A mom wrote in about how, at their school, they found that by letting the students run and play first, then calling them in for lunch seemed to provide the children with an energy outlet first, then they were ready to sit and eat. The school found that the children ate more of their lunch, digested it better and preformed better in afternoon subjects.
