Ploughman's Lunch
Note/Suggestion: In the United Kingdom, a ploughman's lunch traditional consists of a piece of cheese, pickles, salad and or fruit, relish, bread and sometimes a hard boiled egg or piece of roast from the night before's dinner. My children love this style of lunch, it is like a homemade "lunchable."Serves 1, increase amount of each ingredient as per the number of children you are making it for.
Suggested Ingredients:
- 1 cooked chicken leg or thigh, cold or 4 oz cooked chicken, sliced
- 1 piece of cheese, about 1 oz
- 2 small pickles
- 4 mini carrots
- 6 black olives pitted
- small whole wheat roll or 4-6 multi grain crackers
- 1 small bunch of grapes
- 2 Tbsp Chutney or Relish. Traditional Ploughman's lunches include Branston's Pickles.
Directions:
- In a reusalbe container with a lid, arrange the lunch. Using a container with multiple compartments helps, but is not entirely necessary.
- Put the chutney or relish in a small container so that is does not spread through out the meal.
