Popcorn Balls
Notes/Suggestions: This are nut free, but you can always add the 3 cups of the nut of your likeing to this recipeIngredients:
- 2 teaspoons of corn oil, plus more for hands
- 12 cups popped popcorn (3/4 cup unpopped)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt
Set up:
- 1 – 2 cookie sheets lined with wax paper as a drying area
- 1 large bowl greased with the corn oil
- Pop the corn and put it into the greased bowl .
Directions:
- In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, combine the sugars, corn syrup, water, lemon juice and salt. When the sugars disolve, turn the heat to high and cook the mixture until a candy thermometor reads 250 degrees.
- Carefully pour the syrup over the popcorn. Using two forks, gently toss the popcorn with the syrup to coat well.
- Let cool slightly. Coat hands with oil and form balls with the popcorn mixture, about 3 inch balls.
- Place them on the cookie sheets to dry.
