LIVERMORE, Calif., August 08, 2008 . . . Ever struggled to prepare a nutritious, inexpensive, tasty lunch for your school-aged children?
You’re not alone. According to BethAnn Bentley, founder of new community Web site iLunchBox.com (www.iLunchBox.com) and mother of four, “There’s no avoiding the onslaught of pre-packaged, high sugar, high sodium processed lunch foods targeted at youngsters. You add in cute shapes, squeezable fun and superhero tie-ins and the end result is a mammoth grocery tab and a meal that often offers very little nutritional value...”
BethAnn dealt with these challenges raising her own children, 2 girls and 2 boys ranging in age from 10 to 4. She began to find that her best practices, such as apple slices with cheese, resonated with other parents and caregivers. “I can’t tell you how many times a friend has complained to me that their children won’t eat anything healthy, or their children won’t eat anything but PB & J. So, I started giving out my suggestions and recipes, and quickly found others with great ideas to share as well.” The value of this collective wisdom inspired BethAnn to create iLunchBox, an online community dedicated to sharing information, ideas and inspirations for parents and caregivers who want to improve the eating habits of school-aged children. The site encourages contributions from members to its weekly blogs, monthly webcasts and twice monthly newsletter.
iLunchBox promotes healthy, nutritious, kid-tested lunches, parent tested tricks, tips and recipes for a successfully packed and enthusiastically consumed lunch. Additionally, iLunchBox provides its readers convenient resources like menu planning, shopping lists, dietary information, measurement conversion tables and links to other valuable information.
